Meet our most recent Ed Schultz Scholarship recipients

These impressive Minnesota 4-H'ers are the most recent recipients of the Ed Schultz Scholarship for Le Sueur County youth.

Leah is a 2015 Graduate of Tri City United High School and a 9 year member of the Cleveland Pioneer 4-H Club in Le Sueur County. Leah was an officer for the 4-H Federation and has served for a few years as her Club secretary. She is the daughter of Mike and Darcy Schloesser. Leah is attending Ridewater College and plans to pursue a degree in Dairy Management with an emphasis in Farm Operations. During the course of Leah's 4-H career, she has been involved in many different project areas. Some of the indoor projects she has exhibited are photography, flower gardening, crafts and fine arts and exploring animals. As much fun as indoor projects can be, Leah likes to focus most of her time and energy on her Dairy Cattle. Leah was also one of the 4-H County Ambassadors.

Andrew Baker

Andrew was a 2016 graduate of Saint Peter High School and a 12 year member of the Cleveland Pioneers 4-H Club. Andrew is the son of Marty and Judi Baker. Andrew is currently attending South Dakota State University and pursuing a degree in Ag Engineering. Andrew has been showing Dairy cattle for 10 years. Andrew enjoys showing the Jersey Breed but has also shown a few Holstein and Brown Swiss cattle. He has also exhibited at the State Fair each year that he was eligible to attend. Andrew has served as an officer in his club and was a county ambassador.

Thomas Rients

Thomas is a 2016 graduate from Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School. Thomas is an 11 year member of the Farmers Friends 4-H Club. Thomas is the son of Kevin and Brenda Rients. He has served his club as the Vice President and President for a number of years. Thomas is currently attending the University of Minnesota - Duluth and plans to pursue a Civil Engineering degree. Upon graduation from college, he would like to obtain a job designing bridges or buildings. Thomas has been heavily involved with the Poultry and Beef projects. Thomas now enjoys mentoring younger members within the county and teaching them how to work with their beef projects. Thomas has also served as a 4-H County Ambassador.

Samantha Traxler

Samantha was a 2016 graduate of Tri City United High School and has been involved in 4-H for 9 years. Sammie is a member of the Country Clovers 4-H Club in Le Sueur County. She is the daughter of Brian and Patty Traxler. Samantha is attending the University of Wisconsin - River Falls and plans to pursue an Animal Science degree. Samantha has held numerous offices within her club and in the Federation. A major project area for Samantha has been the Dairy project. Sammie started with the Dairy Project in 2008 and has continued to show her Dairy cows ever since! She was also one of the 4-H County Ambassadors.
