Announcing New Endowment for Roseau County Youth

Endowment established to benefit youth of Roseau County

The Minnesota 4-H Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of a new 4-H endowment for Roseau County. Roseau County 4-H alumni, along with current youth and their families, made this Endowment a reality.

Hundreds of youth in Roseau County participate in 4-H each year. These young people serve the community, develop leadership skills, and build lifelong friendships while exploring topics such as animal science, clothing & textiles, photography, shooting sports, robotics, engineering, technology, ATV safety and many others.

Brianne, a college-bound 4-H’er from Warroad, was one of several 4-H youth who recently participated in a phone-a-thon that secured the final gifts needed to establish this important endowment.

"4-H has really helped me expand my leadership skills,” she said. “I'm learning to work with people of diverse backgrounds and to really see the value of carefully listening to everyone's ideas. If it wasn't for 4-H, I don't know where I would have picked up these important life skills."

Each year local 4-H youth, in partnership with supportive adults, will make decisions about how available funds from this endowment will be used to benefit young people in their community.

“This special fund, just for Roseau County, will ensure that access to positive youth development experiences will be available for all our youth for years to come,” said Sandi Weiland, 4-H program Coordinator for Roseau County. “I’m thrilled that so many alumni, families and businesses have contributed to make this endowment possible.”

Contributions from interested individuals, organizations, corporations or foundations may be added to the Roseau County 4-H Endowment at any time, furthering the long-range objective of the fund.
