Minnesota farmers give passionately to ensure youth experience 4-H

$15,000 was recently donated by Minnesota farmers in support of local 4-H programs across the state. We're grateful for the America's Farmers: Grow Communities grant program from the Monsanto Fund for facilitating this generous donation.

Vernon Hedlin selected Pope County 4-H as the recipient of $2,500
“These funds will be used to support 4-H youth programming in Pope County. We’re grateful to Mr. Hedlin for his generosity.” –Jody Koubsky, Pope County 4-H program coordinator

Jill Swenson selected Goodhue County 4-H as the recipient of $2,500
“This donation will be used to buy iPads that will streamline our livestock identification process. Some of the funds will also be used by 4-H staff during the Goodhue County Fair.” –Robin Hartmann, UMN Extension Goodhue County

Tom Wold selected Pennington County 4-H as the recipient of $2,500
“We will use these funds at our fairgrounds to replace planks on the picnic tables near our food stand.  We’ll also be able to replace old boards and pens in the barns that 4-H youth use for their beef and dairy livestock during the county fair.” –Van Swanson, Pennington County 4-H program coordinator

Nancy Keene selected Washington County 4-H as the recipient of $2,500
“We are excited to receive these funds from Monsanto, which will be used to expand programming in the Science of Ag and STEM project areas. The goal will be to offer workshops, tours of Ag industries and other opportunities that will introduce 4-H members to the impact Agriculture has on our world.” –Ann Church, Washington County 4-H program coordinator

Ken Ripley selected Faribault County 4-H as the recipient of $2,500
“This gift from the Monsanto Fund will be used in the overall programming for 4-H'ers in Faribault County, building the essential skills youth need to succeed in school, college, careers and their communities.” –Michelle Klinkner, Faribault County 4-H program coordinator

Mike Munsterman selected Moyer Eagles 4-H Club of Swift County as the recipients of $2,500
"This donation will be used for Toys for Tots gifts from our club this Christmas.  Also, we'll use some of the funds for new picnic tables at the Swift County Fair." – Austin, club treasurer
